Format and fixtures revealed for Betfred Wheelchair Challenge Cup

The road to the Betfred Wheelchair Challenge Cup Final can be confirmed today, as the competition returns with a new format for 2024.

This time around the competition will be a straight knockout tournament involving all five Super League teams, plus current holders Catalans Dragons and two Challenge Trophy qualifiers. 

The Dragons were emphatic winners over Leeds Rhinos last year to record their first Wheelchair Challenge Cup triumph and will begin their campaign with a trip to Hull FC on Saturday 27 April.

Four-time cup winners Halifax Panthers begin with a tricky away clash against current Betfred Wheelchair Super League champions Wigan Warriors, while both London Roosters and Leeds Rhinos will face one of either the winner or runner up of the Challenge Trophy which will take place at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester on Sunday 14 April.

Semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday 11 May, with the final once again taking place at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield on Saturday 1 June – and shown live on BBC Sport.
