Tag Rugby League is a Social RL variant of the traditional game, with minimal contact as players complete a tackle by removing a ‘tag’ from the ball carrier. Tag Rugby League is a great format of the game for building fitness and key skills. It has the added benefit of being a superb social outlet, along with being a variation of the game suitable for beginners right through to players who want high level competitive matches. 

The RFL has a partnership with Try Tag Rugby (TTR) who deliver mixed, men’s, women’s & vets leagues for adults across the country and are piloting leagues for children in select areas. There isn’t the requirement of training sessions as the weekly session is a friendly league match, making it perfect for players to fit into a busy lifestyle. Try Tag Rugby also run weekend tournaments, including their marquee TagFest series that take place all across the UK.

Players can join a team as an individual or enter a new team. Leagues vary in standard with those aimed at beginners right up to the more experienced rugby player. Leagues seasons last approximately 10 weeks and run back to back all year round. Try Tag Rugby players can move onto the representative ladder which includes the annual UK Tag Nationals as well as the Great Britain Elite Development Squad and the full Great Britain squads, who compete in regular international games, tours and the World Cup which takes place every three years.
