Clubs to mark final home fixtures with inclusivity celebrations

The final round of the Betfred Super League season will see Leigh Leopards complete the full set of 12 clubs to host an Inclusion Round in 2024 when they host St Helens on Friday night.

And that will kick off a big weekend, with Widnes Vikings and Halifax Panthers also celebrating the inclusivity of their clubs and the sport at their Betfred Championship fixtures on Saturday and Sunday.

Inclusion has been a big part of the Leopards' success story in Leigh in the last three years, with Kieron Purtill’s Women’s team three wins away from securing promotion to the Betfred Women’s Super League in 2025, and a focus on the club’s Learning Disability team as they have worked closely with autism awareness.

The Leopards LDRL players will again have a central role on Friday night at the Leigh Sports Village, and the club’s owner Derek Beaumont is also promising a personal involvement in the club’s plans to launch a Wheelchair Rugby League team.

Leigh fans will also have a chance before kick-off to celebrate the success of the Women’s team in securing the League Leaders’ Shield in the Northern Championship – with a home Play-Off against Sheffield Eagles this weekend aiming to set up a showdown against the southern champions London Broncos in Birmingham on Sunday week (September 29).

The following night at Widnes, the Vikings are hosting Colostomy UK and Team Colostomy as they round off their Championship campaign against high-flying Toulouse Olympique.

Team Colostomy will play a PDRL fixture against Chorley Panthers kicking off at 330pm, and will then take on the Vikings PDRL team in a shorter exhibition match at half-time of the Championship match.

Halifax Panthers will round off the weekend…
