RFL and Try Tag Rugby renew strategic partnership

RFL and Try Tag Rugby renew strategic partnership

The Rugby Football League (RFL) and Try Tag Rugby are thrilled to announce a new strategic partnership aimed at promoting and expanding the sport of Rugby League across various age groups and skill levels. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the efforts to make a social version of Rugby League more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

The renewal of the partnership between both organisations will continue until 2027 under the Memorandum of Understanding agreement.

Under this partnership, the RFL and Try Tag Rugby will work together to develop and implement programmes that encourage participation in both Rugby League and Tag Rugby. These initiatives will focus on grassroots development, community engagement, and providing opportunities for players of all backgrounds to experience the sport.

Key Highlights of the Partnership:

Grassroots Development: Deliver programmes to introduce rugby to local communities, fostering a love for the sport from any age.

Inclusive Participation: Initiatives to ensure that Rugby is accessible to all, regardless of age, gender, or ability.

Community Engagement: Events and activities designed to bring communities together through the shared passion for Rugby.

Player Pathways: Creating clear pathways for players to progress from social Tag Rugby to international Tag Rugby, including the transition over to contact Rugby League, ensuring a seamless transition for those who wish to advance their skills.

RFL Director of Development, Marc Lovering, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating: "We are excited to continue our close working relationship with Try Tag Rugby to broaden the reach of our sport. This partnership aligns with our mission to promote rugby as an inclusive and enjoyable activity for all."

Alistair Davis, of Try Tag Rugby, added: "This collaboration with the RFL is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the benefits of Tag Rugby and provide more people with the chance to experience the joy of playing rugby in a fun and supportive environment."
