Statement – Leigh Leopards v Sheffield Eagles, Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup

Leigh Leopards will be awarded a 48-0 win against Sheffield Eagles in the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup fixture which had been scheduled for Sunday (April 20), after the Eagles withdrew from the fixture because they could not field a team due to injuries.
This follows the curtailing of Sheffield’s previous fixture in the competition against Leeds Rhinos last weekend after 60 minutes, because of injuries, which left the Eagles with insufficient players for the match to continue.
They were trailing 104-0 at that point, with that result standing as the final score.
The non-fulfilment of Sunday’s fixture against Leigh Leopards will be reviewed by RFL Compliance.
Leigh will proceed to the Quarter Finals of the competition as the Runners-Up in Group C and will play York Valkyrie, who have already been confirmed as the winners of Group B.
As the winners of Group C, Leeds will face the winners of Friday night’s match between Featherstone Rovers and Huddersfield Giants, who will be the runners-up in Group B.
