Student Rugby League Four Nations Starts This Weekend

The Student Rugby League Four Nations kicks off this weekend and will be hosted in England for the first time since 2014.

All games are being played at the University of Nottingham, which also hosted the 2014 event, with each of the Celtic nations having hosted two events in the interim years, which have also seen the Student Rugby League World Cup played for in Australia in 2017.

Hosts England will face Ireland at 4pm on Sunday 29th June, with Scotland v Wales kicking off at 2pm.The action then moves midweek with Scotland taking on Ireland at 5pm and England facing Wales at 7pm on Wednesday 2nd January.

The final round of fixtures takes place on Saturday 5th July, with Wales facing Ireland in the 2pm slot whilst the action concludes at 4pm when England take on Scotland.

This will be the 18th staging of the competition, with England looking to secure a 16thtitle.

Wales are the only other nation to have won the trophy, last doing so in 2012 and previously in 2009 and 2004 and whilst neither Scotland or Ireland have taken a title, Scotland has achieved second place every year since 2018 and will be looking to push for victory this time around.

“We are delighted to be hosting the event at the University of Nottingham” commented David Butler, England Universities Team Manager. “The University of Nottingham has some excellent facilities, which England have already made use of earlier this year at first camp and we are looking forward to making use of everything that the David Ross Sports Village has to offer during our week in camp. It will be a great experience for all of the teams!”

All games take place at the Highfields Sports Grounds at the University of Nottingham, with free entry. Spectators are encouraged to use public transport or park on the main university campus as parking is restricted on site. Spectators are also encouraged to bring their own refreshments.
