With just 100 days to go until the first ABK Beer Rugby League Ashes test kicks off, we take a look at the England stars who have been lighting up Betfred Super League and the NRL that you can expect to see at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 25 October.
Middle forwards Matty Lees and Morgan Knowles have been leading a recent St Helens’ revival. The pair have been an integral part to their sides resurgence which has seen the Saints win five on the bounce, culminating in a defence masterclass against Leeds last Friday. Both players made over 50 tackles while Lees put in a heroic 80 minute performance through the middle.
Wigan star Jake Wardle will be hoping to brush off recent injury setbacks that have hampered his England career to date. Despite his dazzling form the Warriors over the past two seasons, he didn’t feature in either of England’s test series against Tonga or Samoa. Wardle has continued on the same trajectory this year, scoring 12 tries in his 17 Super League appearances, and will be hungry to take that form into a test series against the Aussies.
Over in the NRL, England and Dolphins star Herbie Farnworth has been one of the standout centres in the competition. Having scored 11 tries in his 17 appearances, Farnworth has been consistently brilliant. He ranks in the top five for run metres, post contact metres, offloads and tackle busts. He is a big game player who can unlock a game with his skill, effort and finesse – and he’ll be vital to England’s chances of victory against Australia.
Rivalries will be reignited when England take on Australia in the ABK Beer Rugby League Ashes this Autumn. The two nations will meet in a three-match test series over 20 years in the making and with the second and third test completely SOLD OUT; Wembley Stadium is your only place to watch this fierce rivalry live!
