Summary of CM's submissions on the Charge / evidence:

Following a Match Review Panel meeting held on 3rd February 2022, you are charged with misconduct for a breach of Law 15.1(a) during the above Match.

The Panel reviewed an incident which occurred in approximately the 39th minute of the above Match. In the Panel’s opinion you intentionally stood on your opponent after a tackle. The Panel believe that your actions were unnecessary, against the spirit of the game and had the potential to injure your opponent.

In accordance with the RFL’s On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the Panel consider that such offence is a Grade D offence (Kicks – Intentionally stands on opponent). The normal suspension range for such offence is 3 to 5 matches.

• Incident occurs in approximately the 39th minute
• Player is involved in a tackle with opponent
• As tackle is completed, the player is on the back of the opponent.
• The player then lifts his leg up and stands on the opponent
• Contact is made with the opponents leg
• Player had hold of the opponents leg so is aware of the position of the leg
• The nature of the contact is unnecessary and avoidable
• Grade D due to:
- Intentional act
- Acts such as these have no place on a Rugby League pitch
- Brings the game into disrepute
- Potential for injury
- No duty of care for opponent

Summary of Player's submissions on the Charge / evidence:

JW in attendance alongside Andy Kelly. Player pleads guilty to the charge.

AK informed the Tribunal that the player admitted his actions and could offer no defence or explanation for them in this instance.

He felt perhaps that that the occasion or adrenaline may have played a part, however, this was not a true reflection of who the player really is.

Reasons for Decision:

The Tribunal note for this charge that the player accepts his guilt.

This is the third charge brought against the player from the same match and as such the Tribunal have agreed to take this into account when considering sanction.

Having listened to the cases the Tribunal feel that 24 minutes of uncharacteristic behaviour from the player has spoilt a long career in the game.

They therefore feel that the player should be suspended for 12 months.
