Plea

Decision On Sanction (where found to have committed Misconduct)

Summary of CM's submissions on the appropriate sanction:

• MRP felt that there was no effort to grab, wrap or tackle the opponent and as such categorised this as a Grade D reckless strike.

Summary of Player's submissions on the appropriate sanction:

• Darrell Goulding spoke and cited the angle of the tackle, the immediate reaction of the player and the fact that the opponent carried on as reasons to punish at the lower end of the scale

Reasons for Decision:

After hearing submissions the tribunal felt that this was a reckless act, there was no attempt to tackle, there was a high level of force, and that it was a unacceptable shoulder charge. The apology from the player and the fact that it was a front on hit and not a late challenge, meant that the tribunal felt they could resolve this matter by imposing a three match ban.

Suspension:

3 matches
