Summary of CM's submissions on the Charge / evidence:

Following a Match Review Panel meeting held on 14th October 2024, you are charged with misconduct for a breach of Law 15.1(d) during the above match.

The Panel reviewed an incident which occurred at 18 18 (second half) footage time of the above match. In the Panel’s opinion you have placed an opponent in a dangerous position. In the Panel’s opinion this is serious misconduct, has the potential for serious injury and is against the spirit of the game.

In accordance with the RFL’s On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the Panel consider that such offence is a Grade E offence – Dangerous Throw/Lift

The normal suspension range for such offence is 3 to 5 matches.

• Match Review Panel reviewed an incident in the above match.

• Mr Myers was sin binned following the incident.

• The Referees report stated that “On approximately the 58th min (18 min footage time 2nd half) Toulouse were attacking around 50m from their own goal line. The Toulouse ball carrier was tackled by two Bradford players, one of which was number 21 Jayden Myers. Myers lifted the ball carrier into a dangerous position and dropped him onto his shoulder area. I immediately penalized then decided to temporarily dismiss Myers from the field of play.”

• Mr Myers, the Match Review Panel submit can be seen to lift his opponent into a ‘Dangerous Position’ as defined in the Laws of the Game.

• Using the factors set out in the guidance note the Panel note the following:

- Mr Myers goes to ground with the ball carrier.
- The ball carrier is significantly lifted above the ground.
- The ball carrier’s hips have been turned almost 180 degrees
- Mr Myers is in control of the tackle and unnecessarily lifts the opponent into a dangerous position.
- The ball carrier lands on his head, neck and shoulder.

• Based on the above factors the Match Review Panel felt this necessitated a Grade E charge in line with the guidance note.

Summary of Player's submissions on the Charge / evidence:

Player not in attendance. Guilty plea entered via Head Coach discussion with Compliance Manager.

Decision:

Guilty plea

Decision On Sanction (where found to have committed Misconduct)

Reasons for Decision:

The Tribunal have listened to the submissions made by the Compliance Manager and watched the footage several times.

Having looked carefully at it the Tribunal agree that this incident is correctly graded at Grade E. Whilst there have been no representations made during the hearing they note the guilty plea.

The player lifts his opponent above the horizontal and he then goes to ground landing on his head, shoulder, neck, back. It is only good fortune that no injury caused, indeed, it could have been a significant one.

The Tribunal have taken into account that this was not a deliberate act and have looked at the guidance note for this type of charge.

A Grade E charges carries a suspension of between 3 to 5 matches and Tribunal believe in this instance a 4-match suspension should be imposed. The player will also be fined £375.

Suspension:

4 matches
