Masters Rugby League returns to the North East

Masters Rugby League returns to the North East

Masters Rugby League is back on the map in the North East following an energetic festival at Yarm Wolves RLFC last Saturday.

North East Thunder, Catterick Crusaders, Carlisle and Arlecdon Rams gathered in Yarm to play a round robin format of games. Six fantastic fixtures took place despite the increasingly poor conditions.

Masters in the North East is seeing a resurgence this season with both North East Thunder and Catterick Crusaders playing regular fixtures with improved numbers and displaying great Masters spirit in backing each other for players should the need arise.

Arlecdon Rams took Team of the Day in recognition of not only their impressive Rugby League, but for also bringing the largest number of players from the other end of the A66. Each team was also awarded a Master of the Festival selected by the other clubs in attendance.

Festival organiser, Jason Grant, said:

“It’s been great to get the North East Festival back on the Masters calendar. A huge thanks must also go to North East Thunders’ Alex Cook-Smith and Craig Ellis and Catterick Crusaders’ Ben Smith in helping me pulling this together. Our focus is now to make the 2025 version even bigger and better.”
