Operational Rules Tribunal, August 27

The independent Operational Rules Tribunal considered two challenges to charges laid by Monday’s Match Review Panel, arising from the weekend’s Round 23 fixtures in the Betfred Super League.

The Tribunal rejected a challenge from John Asiata of Leigh Leopards against the grading of a Grade C Dangerous Contact charge from Sunday’s victory against London Broncos. Asiata is therefore to serve a one-match suspension and the club loses the £500 bond.

The St Helens wing Tommy Makinson was successful in his challenge against the grading of a Grade D head contact charge from Saturday’s defeat by Hull KR. Makinson pleaded guilty but successfully reduced the charge to Grade C, meaning a reduction in the ensuing suspension from three matches to two.
