London Skolars to host Southern Conference League Finals Day

London Skolars will host Southern Conference League (SCL) Finals Day this Saturday (7 September) with Hammersmith Hills Hoists set to face Wests Warriors for a third consecutive year in the Grand Final.

Hammersmith ended the Warriors two-year grip on the competition in last season’s Grand Final following an impressive 14-0 win against their opponents at Hemel Stags and the side have continued this form into 2024 having done the double over the Acton based side this year.

Head coach, Vince Spurr, led the side to a narrow 26-30 win away from home before defeating Wests 24-16 on the return fixture. With that in mind, the reigning Champions will be confident they can retain their title on Saturday.

Despite those losses, Wests finished just three points behind Hammersmith at the end of the regular season and enjoyed a 26-8 win against London Chargers in the semi-finals. Kimbo Parkinson’s side will be looking to regain the SCL title for the first time since 2022 this weekend.

Saturday will also see Eastern Rhinos take on North Herts Crusaders for the right to be crowned inaugural SCL Plate Champions. The competition was introduced at beginning of the season for teams finishing in positions 5th-8th in the league table.

In the Semi Finals, North Herts beat Bedford Tigers 34-18 and Eastern received a bye after Brentwood Eels withdrew. Eastern have taken victories in both head-to-head league fixtures this season so will be looking to repeat history again.

Head down to London Skolars, New River Stadium, this Saturday to watch both highly anticipated finals.
